Pop, Pop, Fizz, Fizz

Need a chill, fly place to relax while imbibing your favorite carbonated beverage? Head over to The Soda Gallery in the Bishop Arts District.  While I am not a soda drinker, I went there last weekend to pick up a couple of nostalgic bottles of Pepsi and Cream Soda for my mom to enjoy. It's a cool, funky little place reminiscent of Pops in Oklahoma where you can purchase carbonated beverages from around the world, except it's less noisy and has sprinkles of pop art. At Fitz' in St. Louis you can watch as the fizzy concoctions are being bottled, and if you're missing this treat you can get a few bottles at The Soda Gallery. Craving a taste of Hawaii's most popular pineapple-y fizzy treat? Want a sip of ginger root beer with authentic pieces of ginger floating about? Then head over to The Soda Gallery. Prices start at $2.50 for most bottles, but can go up to $5.50 depending on the liquid treat you pick and how "rare" it is. Grab a pop, cola, soda water, or whatever YOU call it and have a seat on the patio and enjoy!

How cool is the crayon art piece? As you can see, on a great weather day, it makes a perfect place to sit and relax. There are many shops and galleries to take in along the walk ways. Hopefully I'll be able to post about them in the future for you.

They say this is what happens if you continue to drink soda. Lol. Just kidding, but it's a thought.

Breaking Dawn

So, what are you doing between 5 and 6 a.m. on a weekend morning? Moi? Heading out for a training walk. Mmhmm. I know. Don't say it. =) But, if you could only see the early morning hues, you'd be out there too. Of course having some pics as proof would prove helpful, right? Well, I had to drive, but one day, you'll see what I mean. You'll see.-EF

Droplets

Picked up an order of tofu fried rice and veggie spring rolls. I know, fried food is not good, but I was desperate and in a hurry. I should have planned better and made it to Whole Foods, but it didn't happen-obviously. As I stepped outside to walk back to my car, I felt the tender kiss of rain on my skin. The cool droplets felt so good. Love rain. It brings cleansing, renewal and reflection. What would we do without it? Love God's gifts to us.

Vegan Nosh

Published with Blogger-droid v1.7.4
First time having a manger at a Vegan eatery. Spiral Diner and Bakery is a jumping spot. Get in where you can fit in, because they are pretty popular with folks. Their philosophy is that you have "helpers" not waiters, who "help" with getting your meal to your table. Silverware, napkings, water, tea and beverages are gotten by you, unless it is a smoothie, one of their yum-o-licious limeades or juice blends (i.e. carrot juice and company--the uber-healthy stuff). Don't leave a tip on the table. Place it in the tip jar at the counter where you pay for your meal. The helpers split whatever the take is for the day. They were quite polite and helpful in giving suggestions for meal choices. So, how about the food? The pancakes were yum-o, and they have an "all-you-can-eat" option for just under $6. I ordered The BigTaquito "scramble", which was a no-go. It just didn't live up to the description about potatoes, vegetables, etc. Not as vegetable-y as I had thought, nor as flavorful. I wasn't expecting the "oozy", light yellowish-green "scramble" either. The side of salsa helped me to get it down, as well as the grapes. I tried my best to give it a chance. It just didn't work out for me. My compadres had the veggie burger which looked mighty tasty. I'd already had one at another place a couple of days earlier, which is why I tried the taquito. The homemade hummus was palatable, and you have your choice of corn chips, tortilla chips or tortillas to dip it with. At the end of my meal, I decided to order a bakery treat. A chocolate cuppie. It was a hit with me! I obviously do not have a pic of it, because well, I inhaled it! All in all, it was a good, new experience to have, and actually I'm now on the vegetarian route (ovo-lacto that is). No, not a fad diet. I don't do those. More of a health, lifestyle reason. I picked up a brochure at the diner and it definitely sent me over to the meatless side. I was already near that edge anyway. The pics in the brochure just kind of nudged me a little further. =) - EF

Birthdays!!

Saturday was a time of fellowship, laughs and love thanks to my dear friend's bday and that of her son, who turned one. Sandwiches, veggies, dip, specialty-made fruit bouquets and homemade hummus rounded out the buffet. The birthday boy had his own, personal cake to tear into!
Of course I enjoyed a monkey cuppie. I looove bakery-style cuppies. Yummmmm.
The day was a blast! Great food, family and lots of fun and love. Can't wait for the next time!

Saturday Morning

Aye caramba! No training walk for me today! Would rather be at the lake doing that, but alas, I'm en route to dealership for oil change and tire rotation. Afterwards off to the mall for birthday present shopping. Yeah, I'm a "last-minute Lizzie". Not happy about it, but I can be at times. Hmmm....what to get?

Southside Lofts Flea Market

Wonders and eclectic sparks of delight! Art, jewelry, clothes, accessories and then some.

I'm in love with abstract art and bright color splashes! Polluck, Mondrian and Basquiat move me and this artist caught my eye as well.
It's a bird, a plane, no, it's the Vintage T-shirt bus!
It was a beautiful, crisp, clear day.
Nancy and I wanted to try a nosh at Ruthie's food truck, but there was a line and the sudden gust of sand that flew into our eyes quickly ushered us inside. Opening Bell here we come!
A basement view from inside, prior to entering Opening Bell Coffee House
Yum! Iced peach tea and carrot cake. Great fuel before heading back for round two at the market. I had a great time. It was a perfect-weather day for an event like this.-EF
